(7,362 posts)Two decades ago I had a concealed permit in CT. I never carried concealed around town. The issue was that the laws were not clear to me on how precisely one had to transport a weapon around the state to go shooting. So, you get the concealed carry permit and then none of it matters because you can carry it on you loaded.
Then, you have a lot of small businessmen who might carry concealed. People who run convenience stores. Maybe contractors who pay day laborers in cash.
I would bet that the actual number of people who just put on a gun to go grocery shopping is almost zero, but I am not sure there are any good figures on it.

(22,144 posts)Lots of gun owners (about 1/2 the households) but much fewer active shooters.
For some getting the CCW is a statement nothing more, some carry daily, Zimmerman style. There is no way to know.
Given the ambiguity in some states laws, having one is about the best way to stay out of trouble, even if the only place you carry is to/from a range.

(7,362 posts)I live in Oklahoma now and I don't have one, because in Oklahoma no cop is going to give me a hard time for putting a gun and ammo in the trunk of my car (although I shoot once a year now, at most).
