Hogan proposes requiring larger employers to offer paid sick leave

Gov. Larry Hogan said Wednesday he will introduce legislation in the upcoming General Assembly session that would require businesses with more than 50 employees to offer paid sick leave.

The Republican governor said smaller businesses will not be required to offer their workers paid sick leave, but if they do, will be eligible for tax breaks.

The House of Delegates passed legislation to require paid sick leave this year after the bill failed three years in a row.

The Senate did not act on the proposal this year.
