Maryland Police Chief Defies Trump, Says He Will Investigate

Brett Kavanaugh’s Alleged Sexual Assault.

'In an extraordinary turn of events, the police chief in the city where Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford when they were teens said the department is prepared to investigate the accusations when and if a complaint is filed.

“We are prepared to investigate if the victim wants to report to us, and we can determine it occurred in the County,” Montogomery City Police Chief Tom Manger said in a statement.

Though the alleged assault took place decades ago, there is no statute of limitations for sexual assault in Maryland.'

Sorry politicaldig got it wrong, it's Montgomery COUNTY MD, not Montgomery CITY. The 'city' is likely Rockville.

Jealous can use this as a message to all of Maryland that Hogan is a kiddy diddler supporter.

Not investigate. But LOCAL police can.

And if the alleged location was in Bethesda, it would be Bethesda, not Rockville, police. Or maybe they are both part of Montgomery Co police:

The exact site could be Bethesda, Rockville, or other city.

Georgetown Preparatory School is in North Bethesda.

Can a sitting justice be charged with a crime if he is a justice? Could he be arrested, if found guilty, like anyone else? Would he have to be impeached by 2/3 of the Senate if he is guilty of a local crime?

as can any of them.

'The term "good behavior" is understood to mean justices may serve for the remainder of their lives, unless they are impeached and convicted by Congress, resign, or retire. Only one justice has been impeached by the House of Representatives (Samuel Chase, March 1804), but he was acquitted in the Senate (March 1805).'

Tenure:

'The Constitution provides that justices "shall hold their offices during good behavior" (unless appointed during a Senate recess). The term "good behavior" is understood to mean justices may serve for the remainder of their lives, unless they are impeached and convicted by Congress, resign, or retire.[96] Only one justice has been impeached by the House of Representatives (Samuel Chase, March 1804), but he was acquitted in the Senate (March 1805).[97] Moves to impeach sitting justices have occurred more recently (for example, William O. Douglas was the subject of hearings twice, in 1953 and again in 1970; and Abe Fortas resigned while hearings were being organized in 1969), but they did not reach a vote in the House. No mechanism exists for removing a justice who is permanently incapacitated by illness or injury, but unable (or unwilling) to resign.[98]'

And he's not "defying Trump", Trump has nothing to do with local law enforcement. Clickbait headline.

Headline provided by politicaldig, which also got county/city designations wrong.

Bethesda, MD, one of the multiple districts within the county is where the assault and crime occurred and where both the victim and the accused assailant lived.

Should Dr. Blasey-Ford decide to report the crime in Montgomery County, MD this week, Chief of Police Manger will make sure the investigation takes place.

I hope Dr. Blasey-Ford decides to file a report.....
