RASKIN ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING APPLICATION PROCESS FOR MARYLAND'S 8TH DISTRICT.
Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08) today announced that his office is accepting applications for Community Project Funding, a program for funding what were formerly known as earmarks, in the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations process, consistent with the House Appropriations Committees recent announcement. State and local governments and certain 501(c)3 non-profit organizations may be eligible for this federal funding. Additional eligibility and applications requirements are outlined in the application packet, which is available here.
The Constitution vests the Congress with the power of the purse and the Appropriations Committee has transformed the old practice of earmarks into true Community Project Funding with total online transparency, said Rep. Raskin. We will be able to fund projects that make a substantial difference in the lives of our constituents with complete public transparency and disclosure. The new Community Project Funding arrives at a crucial moment when so many of our communities are suffering through public health and economic crises. These federal funds will be put to excellent use all over America. Im excited to get to work for our state and local governments and Maryland nonprofits that could qualify for and benefit from this Funding.
For a Community Project Funding request to be considered, eligible entities must submit an application by Friday, March 26, 2021 to MD08.Appropriations@mail.house.gov. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
