Maryland bill adding mental health callback services advances

I was proud to vote "green" on this incredibly meaningful bill! The Thomas Bloom Raskin Act will require the Maryland Department of Health to create an opt-in health service phone program through 2-1-1 Maryland. Thank you to the bill sponsors, my friends & colleagues Senator Craig Zucker & Senator Malcolm Augustine, and Congressman Jamie Raskin for seeing this important public policy through!

Aiming to alleviate the strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maryland General Assembly is advancing a bill creating a powerful tool to provide residents with enhanced mental health services.

Senate Bill 719, also known as the Thomas Bloom Raskin Act, would require the Maryland Department of Health to create an opt-in health service phone program through 2-1-1 Maryland.

Regarding mental health policy.
I know many states barely have mental health services, I am so fortunate to live in Maryland regarding things like this.

However they have to do something about cops with bigotry and hostility twords mental health survivors in need.

I hate going to the hospital it's bad enough, but to deal with cops who have bigoted mentalities make it sucks worse than it has to,in a crisis. Some psych units are fucked up and some are downright dangerous others are staffed with good people. And if you get admitted you spin the roulette wheel as to what psych unit /hospital you wind up in. That too adds to the fear and stress.

There's alot of work that still needs to be done and this step is positive.
