Three people shot on Towson University campus early Saturday, police and university officials say
Three people were shot and injured on the Towson University campus early Saturday morning, Baltimore County police and school officials said.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. in Freedom Square, near the academic buildings, where a group of people had gathered, university officials said in a statement. The injuries are non-life-threatening, the statement said. The victims have not been identified and it is unclear whether they are students, police said.
At this time, the scene is secure; however, were encouraging everyone, including all students, to remain away from the academic part of campus as police activity is ongoing, said the statement, signed by university President Kim Schatzel and Vice President for Student Affairs Vernon Hurte.
The shooting comes less than a week after the start of classes at the Baltimore County university.
