We are two months into the 2022 hurricane season.

In addition to ensuring your emergency kit is ready, now is a great time to check to see if you live in a hurricane evacuation zone. These zones, most notably on the Eastern Shore and around the Chesapeake Bay, encompass roughly 275,000 Maryland residents living in the areas most vulnerable to severe storms. Zones are designated A through C and provide residents with clarity on whether they should evacuate in an emergency, or shelter at home based on their physical street address and the nature of the emergency event.

Look up your zone today using the Maryland Department of Emergency Management’s interactive web map:

If it expires there and you renew it later, there is a 30 day waiting period before the new policy takes effect.

Should be good until September at least. Quite frankly I hope the dust stays until November.

Usually by this time there's been a number of tropical storms and maybe a hurricane (or 2), but nothing so far. Good news for us who live in hurricane territory or nearby.
