Related: About this forumQuestion for you Marylanders re: 1st Congressional District
It's looking like the Dems are gonna run away with the governor's race and other statewide contests in the midterms. What do you think the chances are of U.S. Rep. Andrew Harris getting swept out of office on Nov. 8th?

(2,103 posts)1. The Eastern Shore
is quite red. Andy Harris supported Trump's position in the 2020 election. I can't see him losing the race. All we can do is hope.

My rep is Steny Hoyer.

I have a friend who is in his district (tho NOT on the Eastern shore,) and is continually upset about it.
Happily, Jamie Raskin's my Rep, and I may change my voting district (next year,) so Steny will be mine too.

(36 posts)6. Recent redistricting offers a sliver of hope
Per Roll Call in Feb 2022:
Trump won the old 1st District by 20 points, but Joe Biden would have won the newly drawn 1st very narrowly, 48.9 percent to 48.5 percent. Thats winnable terrain for Republicans in the current political environment [note this was written in Feb], but it could become problematic for Harris in future cycles if the tide turns toward Democrats.

That's very encouraging! Thanks!
