An Annapolis native will be the track bugler Saturday at Pimlico Race Course,

sounding the first call at the 2024 Preakness Stakes.

Justin Nurin has been playing the trumpet for decades with three music degrees under his belt. He also has the life experience to match after having played at Carnegie Hall, in front of the pope and at multiple Major League Baseball National League Championship Series games.

But it's what Nurin will do on Saturday that has him excited.

"This, I think, might have to be the biggest in terms of 100,000 people here in person," Nurin told 11 News.

The Annapolis-native has been tapped to sub for the usual bugler, Jari Villanueva.
