IndyCars will burn rubbah through a 2.25-mile street course in Bostons Seaport District next year as part of the Verizon IndyCar Series during Labor Day weekend, officials formally announced yesterday.
The Grand Prix of Boston will be staged in the Hub for at least five years, starting with the inaugural race on Sept. 4, 2016.
Establishing IndyCar racing in the Northeast is a key part of IndyCars strategy to grow its national fan base, according to Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Co., the parent company of IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This is a really important and exciting day for the Verizon IndyCar Series, he said. We are looking forward to a fantastic Labor Day experience. We expect it to be an integral part of our series for years to come.
