Boston's former Air America station now carrying Rush Limbaugh and right wing talk!
(X-post from GD) iHeartMedia (the former Clear Channel) has flipped WKOX-AM 1430 in Boston from Latin American pop music (seriously...they couldn't find an FM station for that format?) to right wing talk. WKOX (whose antenna is in Everett west of Boston) used to be an Air America affiliate from 2004 to 2006, simulcasting with WXKS 1200 in Boston (due to the weak signals of both stations, WXKS being 1 kW and WKOX being 5 kW day/1 kW night, both directional stations; WXKS only upgraded to 50 kW in 2008 long after abandoning liberal talk).
Effective at the end of the month, the new WKOX will carry Premiere Networks' right wing talk lineup (Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Joe Pags) along with Mark Levin; except for Pags, all these hosts' shows were dumped by Boston's other two, stronger-signal right wing stations (WRKO 680 and WMEX 1510), both of which are retooling themselves for predominantly local shows.
