PLYMOUTH – Four rare, restored warplanes from World War II have been at Plymouth Municipal Airport for a three-day visit this week. Visitors have been able to tour the aircraft and even go on flights aboard them.

The visit was part of the 110-city Wings of Freedom tour sponsored by the Collings Foundation. The tour has been held annually for 26 years.

The Collings Foundation is a nonprofit organization that organizes and supports “living history” exhibits, according to spokesman Hunter Chaney.

The planes include a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Consolidated B-24 Liberator, both heavy bombers, and a North American B-25 Mitchell, a medium bomber. The fourth plane is a P-51C Mustang fighter.
