Marty Walsh says pricy lawyers could be done in a month
Matt Stout Wednesday, October 28, 2015

The outside legal team Mayor Martin J. Walsh hired at $910 an hour to scrub his administration in the wake of a Teamsters Local 25 probe could wrap its investigation within a month, Walsh said yesterday.

Brian Kelly, a former federal prosecutor, and an associate are also representing the Walsh administration in the federal extortion case and will be kept on retainer at least through June 30, 2016, according to Walsh and a contract the city released last week. Kelly is being paid $625 an hour and his associate, Charles Dell’Anno, will be paid $285 an hour.

Walsh couldn’t say how many hours Kelly will ultimately put in, but likened his work to that of an audit.

“I’m hoping that his report will be completed sometime in the next several weeks to a month,” Walsh said after an appearance on Boston Herald Radio. “He’ll stay on retainer, but it doesn’t mean we’ll pay him. We’ll be paying him for hours worked. Hopefully when he does his report, that will be the end of that.
