Massachusetts trooper accused of assaulting wife arrested again
A state trooper already relieved of his duties has been arrested again, police report. Michael Atton, 34, was taken into custody late last week by Walpole Police after violating a restraining order, authorities said. He was handed over to Wrentham Police.
Atton was already accused of assaulting his wife in front of their children and was told to stay away from her. Atton was free on $5,000 bail. He was also ordered to submit to mental health evaluation and engage in any aftercare, and take all medications as prescribed.
As the Herald previously reported, the statie is accused of grabbing his wife and forcing her arms behind her back as if she was going to be handcuffed. Atton then allegedly threw her down onto the floor in front of their children, the report states.
The trooper has denied the allegations and appeared confused during the arrest, police said.
Atton pleaded not guilty at his Wrentham District Court arraignment last week.
