Hillary Clinton endorses raising minimum wage for tipped workers in Mass.
Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has endorsed a ballot measure in Massachusetts that would raise the minimum wage for tipped workers here from $6.75 an hour to the standard $15.
Clinton threw her support behind the measure in a video released Friday by One Fair Wage, the national organization that campaigned to bring Question 5 to Massachusetts voters this November, and the Yes on 5 campaign. In the clip, the former US Secretary of State framed the issue primarily as one of gender equality.
I had a short experience living on tips when I was a law school student, but there are people in Massachusetts who have lived on tips for decades, Clinton said. Tipped workers are mostly women, and theyre working hard, not only to make a living, but to overcome, sadly, the harassment and economic barriers that stand in their way.
Women have a lot on the line in this election, Clinton continued. So please, stand with working women, stand with Vice President Harris, and all service workers.
