This neighborhood is awesome when the chips are even in slight disarray they show up. We had a neighborhood clearing party, now gotta wait till the township does the street. You can still see part of the storm.
Snowshoe trail event went off without a hitch, dogs, bunnies, deer have places to roam. More trails coming in the near future.
And the dogs did their part marking the lanes

(61,858 posts)... dressed in layers, kept a big bag of sand or kitty litter, a couple of old entry mats, several pairs of socks, a flannel shirt and a pair of jeans, a shovel, a bag of chocolates in the trunk, a warm blanket on the back seat. We always drove out where ever we drove in. Once or twice I had to leave the car and come back next day when the wind drew down.
I was ready! The first thing we did to mark Spring was my daughters and I ate the "emergency" chocolate.

(27,240 posts)I had a neighbor who would bring his massive snow blower over and clear my driveway when we got deep snow. Unfortunately he has moved. I went out and bought a new snow blower and, so far, it's done the job.
I'm probably going to wait until tomorrow before I even think about clearing the driveway. We didn't get that much snow but I'm worried there's an ice layer beneath the snow. Besides, I won't be going anywhere until the street is plowed.

(10,644 posts)My next door neighbor is a hero. Hes got the huge blower and does as many drives and walks as needed. Our block is heavily on the senior side. Guys a godsend. Outside kitties ok? Havent seen any of the ferals that roam around here but they take care of themselves pretty well.

(27,240 posts)The porch kitcats are doing great. I'm going to go check on them, again, in about an hour.
They figured out if they jump up on the cabinet, they can see inside of the house through the dining room window (the porch is an 'add on'). Bronwyn is especially fond of window peeping. When she sees me she stands up and starts pawing at the window.

(27,240 posts)From what I see on his driveway, there isn't that coating of ice I worried about. I'm still going to wait until tomorrow because there's still a possibility of a little more snow. AND maybe the wind will be milder.

(10,644 posts)Were leaving the car cleaning till tomorrow. Gotta give the ole ticker time to recover. With the little snow about an inch coming that would only freeze hard , itll be easier to let it fall on the fallen snow and get the big stuff off in one sweep.

the paths would twist and turn and connect and dead end -- it was fun for me and fun for them.

(4,622 posts)But the landlord passed out an email--said there was a bucket of salt out in front of the office for tenants to take home in their bucket--you think that means: You want your front door free of ice and snow? Do it yourself, suckers! We didn't contract for that, and the two on-call maintenance staff got better things to do (like HVAC problems and frozen leaking pipes when you guys don't drip your faucets and open your cupboard doors as we recommended two days ago?).
Last year we went off to kid's house, faucets adrippin' and cupboard doors open, and just happened to see our address on a fire call app (Water emergency on PulsePoint) and rushed home. They had busted in the locked front door to check for damage -- seems the pipe to their outdoor faucet between the units froze and ruptured. Why? No access panel or valve shut-off...Our neighbor got the new access panel after a shut-off valve was installed...we sucked up the water in our carpet ourselves...Wonder if they'll turn the valve back on next spring so we can easily water the North 40 Inches of garden???? Hmmm...for some reason (ghost of holiday ruptures past?) it had been the only outdoor faucet that worked over a larger complex, some apartments/some townhomes.
