Voters asked to renew tax for Ross-Augusta Fire Department, possible vehicle purchases

The Ross-Augusta Fire Department is encouraging residents to vote in the upcoming Tuesday, Aug. 6, election, to support a renewal of the its operating millage that expires Dec. 31.

The fire department operates under the millage, separate from Ross Township.

The current millage was approved at 1 mill and the proposed millage is for 1 mill for the next five years.

For a property with a residential market value of $200,000 (with an estimated taxable value of $100,000), the 1-mill tax would cost a property owner about $100 annually.
