Several proposals on August ballot in St. Clair County

St. Clair County voters will decide on several ballot proposals in the Aug. 6 primary election.

In China Township, voters will decide on a new millage for road and ditch improvement and maintenance. The proposal asks if the township should levy 1 mill for a period of four years from 2024 to 2027 for the purpose of providing road and ditch maintenance and improvements within the township. If approved, the owner of a home with a taxable value of $150,000 would pay $150 per year. The proposed millage represents a new additional tax. The estimated revenue to be collected in the first year that the millage is authorized and levied is $475,883.

There will be four St. Clair County proposals on the ballot.

The St. Clair County veterans affairs millage asks if .10 mills should be levied for a period of six years from 2024 to 2029 for the purpose of raising funds to provide financial aid to veterans and their families and to provide financial support for the administration of the St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs.
