'The energy is beyond belief:' Crowd excited as Kamala Harris visits for first Michigan rally as presidential candidate
ROMULUS, MI -- Chants erupt through the crowd as people hold up signs supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate at her latest rally at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Wednesday evening.
Harris is set to address a crowd of thousands at 7 p.m. during the outdoor event at one of the airports hangars, and is being accompanied by a lineup of Michigan democrats, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Energy leading up to the event is high as music blares throughout the venue with songs from artists like Beyonce, Stevie Wonder and Mary J. Blige. Cheryl Gibson-Moore, 74, from Southfield was one of the many people ready to hear Harris speak.
The energy is beyond belief, she said, with a smile.
The Detroit rally is happening the day after the Harris campaign announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as the vice presidential nominee on the ticket.
