Two Genesee County Dems win primaries, face no GOP opponent in November

GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- It should be all downhill from here for county Clerk-Register Domonique Clemons and Sam Muma, the longtime local labor leader who’s running for county treasurer.

Both Clemons and Muma won Democratic primary elections on Tuesday, Aug. 6, and neither has a Republican opponent in the Nov. 5 general election.

The wins mean that four of five candidates for countywide office in November will be unopposed with incumbent Sheriff Chris Swanson the only one facing Republican opposition.

County Prosecutor David Leyton won his primary against challenger Trachelle C. Young by a margin of 31,143 to 12,413, according to unofficial results from the county Clerk’s Office, and Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright and Surveyor Kim R. Carlson had no opponent Tuesday and have no opponent in November.
