Saginaw County goes 3-for-3 on millage proposals in primary election

SAGINAW, MI — Saginaw County voters during the Tuesday, Aug. 6, election approved three countywide taxes that will fund road work, a zoo, and services for the elderly, according to unofficial results.

The narrowest of the three wins: Residents voted 19,368 to 18,816 votes to approve a 5-year road millage that officials said will fund the restoration of county roads.

County officials estimate the millage will generate $12.4 million in its first year, county records show.

Voters on Tuesday also approved a renewal and increase in the millage rate that funds much of the Saginaw County Commission on Aging’s budget. The vote was 23,293 to 14,860.
