Black women rally for Harris-Walz ticket in Detroit
We aint going back, U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said during a 20-minute address during a Harris-Walz rally in Detroit on Monday.
The veteran U.S. House member told about 250 Black women at Detroits Garden Theateran African American-owned venue that Vice President Kamala Harris is a candidate who can defeat Donald Trump, the GOP nominee and former president who occupied the White House from 2017 to 2021.
Weve got to focus on the fact that we have a candidate for the presidency of the United States of America, the likes of which we have never seen before, Waters said. A woman who is highly qualified. Someone who can prosecute the case. We are ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever sacrifice it takes.
If elected in November, Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, would become Americas first Black, South Asian and female U.S. president. The Democratic National Convention will be held next week in Chicago.
