Harris campaign opens office in Ann Arbor, liberal enclave in battleground state

ANN ARBOR, MI — Yard signs for Democrat Kamala Harris are popping up throughout Ann Arbor and her presidential campaign now has a physical presence in the city, a liberal enclave in the battleground state of Michigan.

Excitement surrounding the vice president’s bid to become the next U.S. president was on display as Democratic Party activists and officials gathered Saturday, Aug. 17, at the recently opened Harris campaign office at 2900 S. State St.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Ann Arbor, was joined by Seattle-area Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal in kicking off a Team Harris and Michigan Democrats canvass launch with dozens of volunteers, with “KAMALA” and “VOTE HARRIS” spelled out in big letters.

“Pramila is my sister in the Congress — we do a lot of work together,” Dingell said in introducing her colleague, who joined her in calling for electing Democrats up and down the ballot.
