Husband of VP Kamala Harris to campaign in Grand Rapids Thursday

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Second gentleman Doug Emhoff will campaign for his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, Thursday, Aug. 29, in Grand Rapids.

The visit marks Emhoff’s third campaign-related trip to Michigan this year, although it will serve as his first stop in the state since Harris replaced President Joe Biden last month as the Democratic Party’s frontrunner in the race for the White House.

Emhoff previously campaigned alongside First Lady Jill Biden on a reproductive rights-themed statewide tour in May, when they made stops in Detroit, Marquette, Midland and Saginaw. In June, Emhoff campaigned in Flint and Clawson.

Harris campaign officials did not provide additional details on the Thursday Grand Rapids visit for Emhoff, who, if Harris wins in November, would serve as the first male spouse of a president in U.S. history.
