Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff tells Michigan voters not to be distracted by 'name calling'
KENTWOOD, MI - Second gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Hon. Gina Raimondo, former governor of Rhode Island, visited the Grand Rapids community Thursday morning to talk Vice President Kamala Harris plan to create an Opportunity Economy.
The visit to Broadleaf Brewery & Spirits in Kentwood marks Emhoffs third campaign-related trip to Michigan this year but serves as his first stop in the state since Harris officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president in Chicago earlier this month.
If Harris wins in November alongside her running mate Gov. Tim Walz, the second gentleman would become the first male spouse of a president in U.S. history.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters at 2885 Lake Eastbrook Blvd SE, Emhoff and Raimondo underscored Harris plans to bring down costs, cut taxes for the middle class and make it more affordable for middle-class Americans to own a home.
