Who prosecutors Lucido, McDonald, Worthy face as they vie for reelection
Prosecutors in Michigan's three biggest counties are all vying for reelection in November with two facing challenges from former assistant prosecutors while another is running against a third-party candidate who works in private practice.
In Macomb County, Democrat Christina Hines is looking to unseat incumbent Peter Lucido, a Republican. Hines, a former assistant prosecutor who wants to make crime prevention a top priority, has been critical of Lucido and allegations he's faced during his first term of making inappropriate sexual comments to employees. He has denied the accusations.
In Oakland County, meanwhile, incumbent Karen McDonald, a Democrat, will face off against Republican Scott Farida. McDonald's reelection bid comes two years after she was thrust into the national spotlight for her office's historic prosecution of James and Jennifer Crumbley, the first parents ever to be tried and convicted of involuntary manslaughter for a mass shooting carried out by their child.
Farida, a former prosecutor in the family court division, said he wants to go back to the "basic principles" every prior prosecutor had.
