Michigan election sites see brisk traffic on first statewide day for early voting

In Flat Rock, part of Democrat-heavy Wayne County but with more of a Republican lean than many other parts of Michigan's most populous county, early voting kicked off with a steady stream of residents coming and going from City Hall on Saturday morning.

In nearby Gibraltar, at a community center, election workers said they'd seen 40 people in more than two hours of voting Saturday morning. And it was a similarly active scene a 20-minute drive south, as voting got underway at the Frenchtown Charter Township municipal offices in Monroe County, where Trump won handily in 2020 by nearly 23 percentage points.
