Source: Cincinnati Enquirer
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Friday that Ohio doesn't need to draw a new congressional map right now.
The top court granted Ohio's request to delay a new map until after the U.S. Supreme Court rules on gerrymandering cases in North Carolina and Maryland. A trio of federal judges had requested a new map from Ohio lawmakers by June 14.
Now, Ohio legislators can wait to see what the U.S. Supreme Court decides on other states' maps. A decision on those cases is expected in late June.
The case is "stayed pending the timely filing and disposition of an appeal in this Court or further order of this Court," according to Friday's order.

The Court is likely looking for a vehicle to establish rational approaches, NOT easily done.

(6,991 posts)And some of my friends don't think Roe V Wade is in danger. Not all at once, no. It's going to be coldly & efficiently chipped away @ until there's BARELY a scant morsel left 🤬🤬🤬
Well, Demsdo have a chance to once again regain Michigan since there's now a Dem Governor in charge there.
We know thuglicans are going to be voter-suppressing off the chain as per. But those damned ruskies are chomping at the bit to see HOW 'creative' they can be @ interfering with our 2020 General Election this time

(119,262 posts)Judge Mehta issued his decision on the Mazars subpoena in a little more than a week, https://www.lawfareblog.com/judge-mehtas-ruling-mazars-case-swift-victory-congress - and Judge Ramos issued his decision in the Deutsche Bank matter on the same day. There are procedures for expedited hearings. Even the Supreme Court can move fast. In United States v. Nixon, Nixon was ordered in April of 1974 to turn over the tapes by May 31 but he appealed the decision; oral arguments were held on July 8, and the decision came out on July 24. I think the Trump cases will be expedited as well.
