Michigan was a hotbed for election-related misinformation: Here are 17 key fact checks

The Detroit Free Press, in partnership with PolitiFact, a nonprofit news organization, fact-checked dozens of claims related to the election last week.

Ahead of the election, misinformation experts said a flood of inaccurate information intended to sow doubt in the legitimacy of the election process and its outcome would follow the election. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said during a news conference the week before the election that she also expected an increase in misinformation.
