GM Lansing Delta Township plant shut down until late January for facility modifications

DELTA TWP. - The General Motors Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant will be shut down until late January due to facility and equipment modifications.

The plant began its scheduled holiday shutdown period on Monday and will also be shut down the weeks of Jan. 3, Jan. 10 and Jan. 17, Kimberly Carpenter of GM’s corporate communications department said in an email.

The modifications are being made to accommodate future product and there will be more shutdowns in the future, with 11 down weeks planned for 2022, she said.

In 2020 GM announced it was investing $2 billion in six U.S. assembly plants and confirmed investments in five Michigan plants, including the Lansing Delta Township Assembly, for future crossover and full-size pickup production.
