Related: About this forumFellow Michiganders: if you have not yet signed a petition, you can find info/events at this link:
https://mireproductivefreedom.org/Specifically, this measure will ensure that all Michiganders have the right to safe and respectful care during birthing, everyone has the right to use temporary or permanent birth control, everyone has the right to continue or end a pregnancy pre-viability, and no one can be punished for having a miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.
* The events listed on the site are not necessarily the only places you will find a petition to sign. I saw several signature gatherers as I ran errands today. We need 425,059 signatures... let's blow this up!

(96,882 posts)I realize that people are angry and want to do "something". But this isn't a petition and its not going to achieve anything other than give your contact information to a PAC that has no track record I've heard of for the purpose of fundraising. If you want to get involved with a reproductive rights group that knows how to play politics, reach out to Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

(37,849 posts)This is to get reproductive rights/freedom on the ballot to amend the state constitution.
It is in conjunction with the ACLU, Michigan Voices and Planned Parenthood. Stay in your lane.

(23,762 posts)It looks like they're interested in gathering membership and donations, but I saw no list of petition-signing locations in the Wayne/Washtenaw area. Maybe it's just my low computer skills.

I went to Eastern Market yesterday, and there were at least 5-6 signature gatherers that I encountered. Then I saw a couple in random places. So, they are out there!

(37,849 posts)The signatures have to be turned in to the SoS office on July 11th. I'm not sure when they are going to stop seeking signatures (once person I talked to said the 1st, another said the 10th). And you KNOW the anti-choice groups are going to challenge as many signatures as possible.
This is all just so surreal (even though we knew it was going to happen).

(23,762 posts)And they'll challenge the color of the ink, the size of the font, serif or sans-serif, the color of the paper, the weight of the paper, the spelling and punctuation, any little detail that might get the petitions tossed.

(16,331 posts)There were signature gatherings at the library, the farmers market and somewhere else where I was approached (can't remember where). I'd already signed but was excited to see they were at several places in Rochester Hills.

(16,331 posts)Let's keep the blue wave going and gathering steam. I would so like for Governor Whitmer to have a Dem legislature.
