(35,772 posts)Lansing and that overturned cars and semis on I-96 near Webberville was a tornado it nasty straight-line winds. Lots of trees and limbs down here in Lansing but we luckily didn't lose power.

(21,758 posts)Im a couple miles South of the tornado path, but the straight line winds were crazy. I was huddled in the basement with the sirens blaring hearing trees break around my house and sticks and debris pelting the house not sure if I was in the tornado or not. Was pretty scary.
Our neighborhood saw a lot of damage, but nothing like the path of the tornado. And its weird how the damage is too, its like one tree would be totally left alone and the 1 20 feet away was uprooted and knocked over.
This was a strong EF1, just on the cusp of an EF2. But the way this storm was, the straight line winds that stretched for miles on either side of the path were almost indistinguishable from the tornado and had EF0 tornado levels winds. Really a rare storm for Michigan. And it developed over land and very quickly.
