Three Republican members of the Minnesota House of Representatives on Monday introduced articles of impeachment against Gov. Tim Walz over his use of executive orders to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rep. Erik Mortensen of Shakopee, who co-sponsored the impeachment resolution, accused Walz of corrupt and criminal acts in a news release Monday, calling the governors executive orders unconstitutional.
A spokesman for the governor said Walzs executive orders have repeatedly been upheld in court when their legality has been challenged, adding that courts rather than legislators determine what is constitutional.
The resolution, which faces long odds in the Democratically controlled House, includes five articles of impeachment.

(19,061 posts)I know that he has always been a man of faith and putting others first. That is what Leaders do.
Minnesota Republicans have always been the opposite. They refuse to govern. With COVID still rating across the state and neighboring states, Tim has done what was right to save lives, lessen strain on our health systems, and save what businesses that could be saved. He well knows that for businesses to survive, one needs customers. If the customers are sick, too poor, they will not come. There cannot be a healthy state economy without a healthy workforce.
Republicans have no solutions of their own other than to complain about having to make adjustments, so they cry IMPEACHMENT. Tim Walz is NOT Christy Noem or Kim Reynolds. He has more smarts in his pinky fingers than they have in their entire bodies combined.

(28,475 posts)but I have been thankful that he has been governor through this last year. This has been a learning process and I can't believe anyone would have done better. I hope he knows that for all the nuts yelling about the job he has done there are more who are glad he's there.

(20,847 posts)would consider trying to save our lives and keep us healthy to be "corrupt and criminal" even AFTER Jerry Relph's death as a direct result of their selfish thoughtlessness and need to flex and assert their "freedom." I'm so thankful to be in this state now instead of my former state of South Dakota, and to have a sane governor and reasonably sane legislature.
Walz is a true leader, something the state's republican asshats wouldn't know a thing about. I thank God Walz is the governor, although I could do without my own republican asshat Emmer as my congress critter. Then again, coming from South Dakota, he's actually almost a step up.
