Gov. Walz, family test positive for COVID-19

Gov. Walz, family test positive for COVID-19

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday he and his wife, Gwen, have tested positive for COVID-19. They are both vaccinated and have received their booster shots and are not experiencing any symptoms.

The governor said their positive tests came after their 9th grade son, Gus, tested positive for COVID on Monday. Gus, who is also vaccinated, is experiencing mild symptoms.

"My son is vaccinated, and Gwen and I are vaccinated and have received our booster shots, and I am confident that these vaccines are protecting my family and me from serious illness," Walz said in a statement.

Walz said his son was the first in his family to test positive on Monday. He and his wife took got tested that same day and were initially negative, but received positive test results on Monday night.

Best wishes the the Governor and his family. We would be in much worse shape as a state if not for the last two years of his leadership.

Dec 2021

Daily new cases - previous Tuesdays and the latest Tuesday -- oldest first, most recent last, new cases:
10,913, 11,455, 12,632, 12,445, 9,964, 7,396

so quite astonishing considering the sharp rise in U.S. cases overall.

===============================

What I posted elsewhere last night that includes Monday's numbers (but not Tuesday's) --

Minnesota 7 day moving average of new cases down 33% since Dec 7, but is leveling off - the last 4 days are only slightly down.

(no paywall, no quota. The "last 90 days" button above the graphs is very helpful)

===============================

Anyway, Tuesday's number will drop the 7 day moving average considerably
