Vikings lose quarterback Cousins to COVID list before game vs. Packers

Last edited Sat Jan 1, 2022, 02:13 AM - Edit history (1)

AP, December 31,2021

The Minnesota Vikings placed quarterback Kirk Cousins on the COVID-19 reserve list on Friday, two days before their most important game of the season at Green Bay.

Cousins is unvaccinated. Even if he were asymptomatic, he wouldn't be able to return in time to face the Packers. The NFL recently reduced the required quarantine period to five days for asymptomatic players.

The Vikings (7-8) are one game out of the last wild-card spot in the NFC with two weeks to go. The Packers (12-3) are in control of the top seed and a first-round bye. ((as I understand it, the Vikings can still get into the playoffs, but they don't have complete control of that, they are dependent on some other team(s) losing -Progree))

[Cousins:] “It's in our building. It’s going to be in our building. It’s going to spread. We’ve just got to be disciplined to keep our distance and make sure that to the best of our ability we don’t get it,” Cousins said, "but it is going to be difficult.” ((well then get vaccinated, moron -Progree))

There's more on the Vikings and a lot more on other NFL teams' Covid woes.

Edited To Add:
ESPN's Adam Schefter and the NFL Network reported that Cousins experienced self-reported symptoms, and that tests came back positive.

As an unvaccinated player, he must test every day.

... Cousins' comments ((in August --Progree)) came a few weeks after Zimmer, almost being prophetic, addressed the situation of so many players choosing to go unvaccinated.

"Something like this happens the day before a game that has a chance to get you in the playoffs, or something like that," he told reporters. "For the sake of everybody's health, I think (getting the vaccine is) important. But some people don't understand, I guess."

The Vikings need to win their final two games of the regular season to have a chance to qualify for the NFC playoffs.

Here's his dad. I know that it's nit always fair to assume that someone has the same views as their parents, but based on what I've read I'm guessing they're in lockstep on the pandemic.

thing that actually keeps them out of the playoffs -- never mind they would probably lose to the Packers even with the doofus. But if and when the Vikings get stomped tomorrow, any fans who get salty about it will have ample justification.

He may not be the cause of them missing out, but he'll get a lot of the blame
