Search warrant: Sheriff initially denied driving SUV when he crashed

All sorts of stuff going on here!

https://minnesotareformer.com/2022/01/04/search-warrant-sheriff-initially-denied-driving-suv-when-he-crashed/

A search warrant shows Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson repeatedly denied to a sheriff’s deputy that he was driving his county car when it crashed Dec. 8 on an interstate near Alexandria, even claiming at one point that a cab driver was behind the wheel when it crashed.

Hutchinson has since pleaded guilty to driving drunk after leaving a state sheriffs’ conference on Dec. 8, and crashing the SUV.

Separately, a Medina police report indicates Hutchinson was not involved in a request that Medina police investigate an independent photojournalist who got photos of the sheriff’s totaled black Ford Explorer, and whether she’d trespassed or “planted” items in Hutchinson’s car.

The State Patrol was asked to assist the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at the crash site.

as sheriff, several years ago. He is a huge improvement over that. Here is his bio:

He obviously has a serious problem with alcohol and needs to address that before resuming his full duties. Hopefully he can.

But he has struck me as a good guy and the people I know who do know him well think a lot of him. As you said, he is a vast improvement over the last sheriff and I hope he gets the help he needs.

a couple other cops. They all wanted him to win.

Something strange happened with him. The consensus is he went "crazy". He fell off his horse drunk at our rodeo parade. Then he got caught working with some kids that were pulling burglaries. He was arrested and evidently beat up by someone involved. He avoided any prison time and won his lawsuit, then no one has seen him since.

I'd like to see him again to find out what the hell happened? There is no way he was that kind of guy all along.
