Republicans Win Minnesota? Dream On - WSJ letter

I usually scan the letters and this one caught my eye, even though I did not read the original opinion, and do not intend to..

In “Brian Kemp Is GOP’s Best Bet for 2024” (op-ed, Nov. 22), Scott Westcott mentions that Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia is “bland and pragmatic enough to appeal to Wisconsin and Minnesota residents.” As a lifelong Minnesota resident, I must say: Any case for a GOP presidential candidate that contains a hint of “appealing to Minnesota” as part of the strategy is doomed. The GOP hasn’t won Minnesota since Richard Nixon’s landslide victory in 1972. Donald Trump came close in 2016, but he spent way too much time here. Bland and pragmatic can’t carry the country in 2024, especially if the economy has recovered by then.
