St. Paul mosque vandalized weeks after arsons at Islamic centers in Minneapolis
Friday morning around 7 A.M. May 12
The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Minnesota) is calling for an investigation into a possible bias motive after a St. Paul mosque was vandalized Friday morning.
Surveillance footage captured the incident at the Masjid Al Sunnah Mosque around 7 a.m. A person with a hooded sweatshirt, mask and blue umbrella is seen approaching the mosque in the parking lot before throwing a concrete slab or rock three times at the door, causing "significant damage," CAIR said.
It's the fifth time a Minnesota mosque has been vandalized in 2023, and comes a few weeks after arsons at two Minneapolis mosques, which are now being prosecuted as federal hate crimes.
