Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota signed a bill into law on Tuesday legalizing recreational marijuana use in the state.
With Walzs signature, Minnesota becomes the 23rd state to legalize adult-use cannabis and the third Midwestern state to do so.
What we know right now is prohibition does not work. Weve criminalized a lot of folks. Were going to start the expungement process on those records. We have a situation where buying cannabis on the streets is dangerous, Walz said at a signing ceremony Tuesday, adding that adults should be able to make their own decisions around these types of choices.
The Minnesota House and Senate chambers, which are both Democratic-led passed the bill earlier this month with bipartisan support after months of review following its introduction in January.

(10,821 posts)Lol, now I want to start giving away cause no way I can go thru it all. Ah ha... Yay MN. It is funny. Went into a pizza joint that sells fizzy water pot enhanced. Haven't drunk the one I bought yet, but Oregon did not have sales in restaurants. Republicans accidently legalized gummies last year, couldn't read the bill that had snuck it in there.

(25,342 posts)Almost everywhere except liquor stores. You can get them at supermarkets, convenience stores, etc. along with the 5mg gummies. That was an earlier law that passed last year. This one is for full on weed.

(6,338 posts)I am by Roseville. The fizzy drinks are all around here as well. And, amazingly enough, I have asked a few of the stores if they have an issue with youth trying to get them or sending people in to get them, and they said not at all. (Wasn't that one of the main contentions from the rabid right?) Congrats to Minnesota for doing the sensible thing and worrying more about people and not a freaking plant. (They never banned Poke salad.... those berries are quite deadly if one were to think they were blueberries or something. Never heard a peep about the kids eating poke berries. LOL.)

(25,342 posts)Yeah, I had wondered about how easy it might be for kids to get a hold of those fizzy drinks. I know that when I go to the co-op, I get carded for CBD chews.
