https://minnesotareformer.com/briefs/mpd-restructures-adds-chiefs-says-not-all-officers-are-behind-him/Minneapolis Police Chief Brian OHara announced a restructuring of the department Monday, putting a new leadership team in place, arriving just as MPD enters a period of enhanced state and federal oversight
He named two assistant chiefs and five deputy chiefs, and reorganized the department into two divisions: Operations and Community Trust.
(snip)
All of the newly appointed people are veterans of MPD and the city, with 23 to 30 years of experience. OHara acknowledged the work of all of the citys great police officers, but singled out the command staff, saying theyve been responsive, and loyal to their oaths, and have served with professionalism and respect.
When the Reformer asked OHara how the rank-and-file officers have responded to his leadership, he said most support him and have been expecting his changes. For those who dont want change, he said, Im not their guy.

(24,053 posts)1. Definitely normal and reassuring:
OHara said he was surprised to find some people in Minnesota dont even think George Floyd was murdered.
I think that theres definitely people who would disagree with me. But I think by and large, the vast majority of our police officers are not in that camp, and they want to move forward. And I think these kinds of changes are just necessary for them to start to heal.

(6,529 posts)2. Is he referring to the healing of the department
Or the healing of the city? Because the former does not need it and the latter needs more than freaking 'healing'...

For those who don't want change, they should leave.
