Bakk: Leaders near deal on Minnesota special session

INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. — Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk says Minnesota leaders are nearing a deal on a special session.

Bakk said Wednesday he thinks he has an agreement in principle with Gov. Mark Dayton and House Speaker Kurt Daudt. Bakk says the three plan to meet Thursday in St. Paul to firm up plans for a special session.

WDIO-TV reports the Cook DFLer made his comments during a groundbreaking ceremony at the International Falls airport.

Dayton and legislative leaders have repeatedly discussed a possible overtime session to resurrect a $1 billion public construction package and a $260 million tax relief bill.
