Tim Kaine's son, 7 others, charged in protest of pro-Trump event in Minnesota
The youngest son of U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., has been charged with three misdemeanor counts in what prosecutors say was a chaotic and unlawful disruption of a March 4 rally at the Minnesota state Capitol in support of President Donald Trump.
Prosecutors announced Friday that Linwood Woody Kaine, a Minneapolis resident, was charged with one gross misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process and misdemeanor counts of fleeing on foot and concealing his identity in public.
Seven other people were also charged, two with felonies, in connection with the incident.
A criminal complaint says Linwood Kaine and others changed into black clothing during the rally and entered the Capitol. One group member threw a smoke bomb inside. The complaint says the 24-year-old Kaine was among those who ran away, and he initially resisted arrest.
