Back from a DFL gathering this evening and I can tell you the support for Franken is strong

Last edited Sun Nov 19, 2017, 09:30 PM - Edit history (1)

this was a personal gathering, not really political but everyone there is active in the party.

I can tell you that a couple of our candidates for governor may have hurt themselves (with party activists) by jumping on the "Al should resign" bandwagon. There was disappointment expressed that they would be so quick to do the Republican's dirty work for them.

One of the candidates for governor who did not jump on the bandwagon was there and, in semi-private conversation with him, he did tell us that on his trip to the Range this weekend, he found that Al is still loved up there as well.

The consensus was: It was disappointing and dumb, but not a pattern of behavior and, as Al has always been a champion of women's rights, we want him on the bus, not under it.

....patience, common sense, and logic is expected from the right-wing, and is proven over and over again on a daily basis. Seeing that same abandonment on the left is truly disappointing, and all for the sake of a hollow moral high ground that is rapidly collapsing under its own ill-conceived weight. I stand with the honorable Senator Al Franken, and wholly reject the false equivalence, and total condemnation being paraded on Democratic Underground and elsewhere.

It just seems to me that there are too many people moving too fast in order to become part of the solution and end up being a big part of the problem.

Democrats were riding high: sexual harassment by Trump and Moore, and winning Virginia and other places and now Franken "spoiled it."

Interesting analysis about the Ethics committee. According to report in the strib, the committee is busy with complaints about financial affairs and they will not bother with something that happened before he became a senator. As it did with Vitter.

And then, when was the last time this ethics committee censured a senator? Why, a senator from Minnesota - Dave Durenberger. Oh well..

Both sides of my family come from Minnesota. Most of them still live there.

You don't tell those stubborn Germans and Swedes what to do. If you try, they may not say anything, but they will just dig in. I have always seen a sense of fairness on the part of my family and their neighbors. They do have some bad apples and ruthless people, but on the whole, those are not the norm. Don't mess with Minnesota.
