The one my dad lived in had a library, and when he died we gave them most of his books and they were pleased to have them. If your town has Little Free Libraries you can just stick some of them in one of those.

Yellow pages, perhaps? Or 311?

Most were gone within a couple of days. I put them in categories and offered each one, plus they come and get them, don't have to haul them anyplace.

Esp. the hard to find, out of print ones. They will pay postage plus book price they set. Someone here was talking about that just the other day.
I know for a fact they are looking for a book I have, will pay 15.00.... at the time.... for it.

You might want to check any of your known out of print books with the site.

I have same problem you do, but live in a very remote area so Freecycle and etc. are not gonna work for me. Most of my books are non-fiction, most people down here read fiction. My only option is to give them to the library for their annual sale, but the library has tons of books in storage already.

I may start with the library - having a book sale in two weeks. I can start with a Minnesota favorite - Joanne Fluke.

Lots of places of worship take books for their libraries or give them to people who are in their pastoral care programs.
