My Daughter lives in Minnetonka. Her Chiropractic office is in Eden Prairie. She has lived in the Twin Cities since age 18 when she left Rochester to go to the U of M, the Chiropractic School in Bloomington.

Minutes from the center of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, depending on traffic and time of day.

There are some great neighborhoods in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Otherwise the inner ring suburbs are good, too. (Minneapolis) St. Louis Park, Richfield, Hopkins, Edina, Golden Valley. I'm not sure of the St. Paul suburbs.

There is easy access to the highways, the airport, and the bus lines. There's an express bus that goes to the Mall of America/ light rail terminus, and that gets you to the airport and then to downtown Minneapolis.

It's a relatively new suburb so there are a good number of retail and dining chains there, but the roads are nice and wide, with plenty of sidewalks. There are some nice, family friendly parks there too.

If you want something a bit more rural there are small cities, such as Cambridge, Princeton, and North Branch around that are maybe 45 minutes away.

The 'burbs tend to be very white and very Republican. If you don't want to live in a cookie-cutter McMansion-infested suburb like Woodbury, Stillwater, across the river from Wisconsin, is nice. Chaska is a pleasant outer-ring suburb southwest of Minneapolis. Check out the cities themselves: there are some really nice, older neighborhoods with mature trees and cool old architecture. In Minneapolis look at the Tangletown, Lowry Hill, Fulton, Linden Hills and Bryn Mawr neighborhoods; in St. Paul check out Macalester-Groveland, Highland and St. Anthony neighborhoods.

as there are some toxic dump sites that realtors won't tell you about. My brother lives in Arden Hills, and there is one of those near him. I think there might be one in Brooklyn Park too.

Canada would be my best suggestion.

But since that's not possible right now I'm thinking anything within a 30 mile radius of St. Paul.

it seems nice. Unless you're interested in using mass transit. (Which would be true of too many of the areas outside of Minneapolis and St. Paul.)

Lakeville, Apple Valley, Rosemount and Farmington are all putting in new developments left and right.

Apple Valley has good access to the metro via Cedar/77 and a new bus line. Lakeville has good access via Highway 35.

If it were closer, I'd recommend Northfield (great liberal college town vibe), but that's right at the 1 hour commuting distance.
