(9,629 posts)Hennepin & Ramsey account for more than 1/4 of the population, so it may still be too early to tell. I suspect that is why Ellison is out to a commanding lead right out of the door (his district was mostly in Hennepin Co.) - I am expecting that lead to shrink, but probably not enough to lose.
Walz doing well in the Twin Cities his a good sign for his campaign - my district was pretty evenly split between Walz and Murphy in the Feb. caucuses.

I think Democrats are more motivated to vote in the primaries. You've heard the old saying - "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line." A lot of Repubs don't care who wins the primary - they just show up to vote for their candidate in November.

(32,078 posts)Winona County saw a turnout of 25 percent of eligible voters, which is about 5 percent higher than the 2014 midterm primaries. Of the 6,849 ballots cast, 4,250 of them picked candidates in the DFL primaries, while 2,540 voted on the Republican side.
