Questions raised after Lakeland mayor sets up his own 'city' website

The city of Lakeland’s website features charming photos of the St. Croix River community as well as links to pay bills and details on what City Council is up to.

But wait, there is another Lakeland website that has photos of its historic City Hall. And city documents. And links to pay bills.

The first one is run by the city. The second one was set up by Mayor Dick Glasgow.

A group of residents and at least one city council member say the dueling sites create confusion. The official site hasn’t gotten updates of its video collection of meetings all year, but the mayor’s has. And the mayor’s site lists April 23 as the next meeting date; it’s supposed to be Tuesday, April 16.
