Jackson County prosecutor race, Missouri ballot issues in focus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This week’s “Candidate Conversation” features one of the candidates for Jackson County prosecutor: Democrat Melesa Johnson, who served two years as an assistant prosecutor, and now serves as Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas’ Director of Public Safety.

She shares her vision of the office and how the role of the prosecutor has changed. She and Republican Tracey Chappell (who will join us in a future episode) are vying to replace outgoing prosecutor Jean Peters Baker in November.

hen, Jason Rosenbaum, Chief Political Reporter for St. Louis NPR, shares his insights on the Missouri ballot issues, including Amendment 3 (Reproductive Freedom) and Amendment 2 (Sports Wagering).

Where do they and other issues stand with about a month to go?
