Fired Lewis and Clark County deputy arrested on 80 counts of sexual abuse of children
A former Lewis and Clark County sheriffs deputy who was fired in 2008 was arrested Thursday on suspicion of more than 80 felony sexual crimes involving children.
Virgil Wolfe, 52, was charged Friday in Cascade County on allegations of 80 counts of sexual abuse of children, in addition to another felony sexual crime. Cascade County identified Wolfe as a former Lewis and Clark County sheriffs deputy who now resides in Cascade County.
The arrest involved both Cascade County detectives and agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the sheriffs office said in a news release.
Wolfe is accused of molesting one of the alleged victims for more than a decade. Charging documents say the abuse started in Helena when the girl was about 6 years old and continued in Cascade County.
