Lincoln councilwoman blasts council Democrats as she follows judge's order
Tuesday morning, six Lincoln City Council members did what a judge ordered them to do last week: They voted unanimously to approve a property tax rate that will support Mayor Chris Beutlers budget proposal, which is now the citys two-year budget.
Lancaster County District Judge Robert Otte ruled that Beutlers proposal was the legal two-year budget for the city and that the council was required to approve a tax levy -- 33.366 cents per $100 in valuation -- that would raise enough money to fund it.
Later in the week, the Republicans on the council, who had been fighting for a slightly lower tax rate, said they would not appeal Otte's decision to the Nebraska Supreme Court, effectively ending the six-month budget fight that began while Beutler was preparing his plan.

Lamm, a Republican, blamed the Democrats for helping the mayor in this tyranny, and for walking in lock-step with him throughout the budget process and on other issues even if to do so is not in the best interests of Lincoln residents.
